Don't Forget to Reload, Dr. Freeman!

pencilcat:

My first challenge, Improvement Hell, was a way to inspire people to draw different things different ways, drawing outside their comfort zone, and most of all to draw every day. I had a few people ask for a follow up. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the sequel: Draw All The Things

Each day…

Are you tired of feeling like your art just isn’t improving? Do you want to do a 30-day challenge that’s actually useful? Welcome to 30 Days of Improvement Hell. >:D

I made this because I’ve been feeling super ‘blah’ about my art these days, and I needed something to kick-start myself. Who wants…

warumwarumnicht asked: Hi, I admire your work a lot and I would thank you so much if you answered me this. I'm struggling to decide what I want to study, so please tell me, how is it to be a professional artist? In what do you work? Is it cool? I hope this doesn't bother

pencilcat:

Being a professional artist is hard. Extremely so. It takes a lot of work. You need to practice and refine your skills all the time. There is no “read a book and get skills instantly” or “when I’m older I’ll be better”. You have to force yourself to work and work and work, even when you don’t feel like it. It’s extra-hard when being an artist is an extremely undervalued job. People often misunderstand the amount of work needed to draw/paint/design and make it look good. Many jobs take too long and pay too little. The jobs that are worth it are desired by hundreds of other artists just like you. At times it can feel like a hopeless battle.

But is it worth it? If you love art with all your being, hell yes. In high school I struggled with the choice of going into Art vs Biology. I loved working with animals, but I love art too. In the end, I simply couldn’t picture myself not doing art. It hurt just thinking about it.

And now, even though I struggle financially, I love the work I do. Everyday I look forward to crafting something new and pushing my skills just a little bit further. I dream of being my own boss, making things that other people will love, and just sitting back thinking “fuck yeah, I just made something awesome.”

And yes, it is very cool.

My part of the trade with luchtschild!!!!

I’m sorry that I’m a bit late, I did my best to keep up to the schedule :^( hope you like it, I thought that a comic would be a better idea than drawing a single picture but eventually I came up with an idea for a single picture as well so if you don’t like it (or feel cheated) I can draw another one. I must admit that finding a way to connect Jack and Booker was kinda tricky! Thank you very much for the trade and for your part <3

Holy shit, just finished Transistor. That is definitely THE MOST beautiful game I have ever played. Most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. I am awestruck. Holy shit holy shit holy shit
